Launching Essential Letters and Sounds September 2023
Dear parents and carers,
Following an update from the DfE around phonics teaching and after much careful consideration we have decided to move to the government approved phonics scheme ‘Essential Letters and Sounds’. This is a phonics programme based on letters and sounds (2007). This new phonics programme will support your children in making quick progress to become fluent and confident readers.
All staff have now competed the training, the new books and teaching resources are in place ready for our September launch. More information will be sent out in the first week of the new academic year along with an invite to attend our phonics information session for any parents /carers with children in reception through to year 2.
