The government recognises the importance of homework from an early age and has recommended that schools provide organised homework to raise standards of achievement.
Whilst our school has always provided homework, we see it as important that parents are aware of the homework expectation of each year group and the amount of homework set during the course of a week.
Every class has the expectation of daily reading that will be recorded in reading records and for years 5&6 their homework diary.
Each child in year 5 & 6 will have a homework diary which you should sign weekly. The diary will have details of the work expected and a note of any letters that should have gone home. It also allows for any comments you may wish to make.
The chart below gives specific information on homework for each year group.
