In science we have been learning all about electricity. Today the children learnt about circuits and how if they break the circuit then they break the current. The children had to work together to create their own circuit using wires, bulbs and switches.
Today we welcomed all the marvellous men in our lives into school. With a little help the children sewed their puppets together that they had designed in their DT lessons.
Year two enjoyed visiting the park today as a reward for working so hard over the term.
To support our topic on the rainforests, we visited The Living Rainforest. We learnt about some of the animals that live in the different rainforests as well as some of the food and spices that grow there.
In ICT we have been learning how to code using Lego. The children had to follow instructions to build a frog or snail before designing a code to make their creation light up, move and make noises.
In PE this term we have been learning new dance moves and how to put them together to create a short dance routine.
We had lots of fun showing off our amazing creations at the Easter Bonnet Parade.
In science we were asked the question ‘How would you fix a hole in an umbrella?’ We discussed how to make the test fair before carrying out experiments on the different types of materials we could use.
Today we enjoyed learning all about the meaning of Easter at our Easter exhibition
We had great fun celebrating Wonderful Women Day with all the special women in our lives.
Year 2 enjoyed dressing as their heroes for Year 5’s charity day.
Reading for pleasure during World Book Day
This term in science, we are thinking about the properties of different materials and their usage. Today we went on a material hunt around school looking at different objects and discussing why we think they were made from that material.
To finish our topic of The Great Fire of London, we made bread rolls just like the baker on Pudding Lane.
Today we went to the Forest School to make a fire and toast marshmallows. Tomorrow in English we will be writing our own instructions for how to make a fire.
This term in PE we have been practicing our gymnastic skills. We used various apparatus to travel and make different shapes with our bodies.
In Science we have been learning all about Metamorphosis. We used pasta to make our own butterfly life cycles.
In ICT the children have been learning about following instructions and algorithms.
In preparation for our new topic, Year 2 had a visit from the Fire Brigade to talk about fire safety.

To support our learning about Florence Nightingale, the children made Jimmy the Tortoise out of clay. Jimmy was one of the many pets that would roam the hospital where Florence worked.
For science today, we learnt all about different habitats. We decided to explore our Forest school to see if we could identify things that are living, dead or never alive.
After spending the last few weeks learning how to write a good story, Year 2 finally wrote their own Horrid Henry stories. To give them a purpose for writing and to help them feel like real authors they then read their stories to Reception Class.
To end our DT topic this term, the children made the healthy snacks they had designed for Horrid Henry. Yum!!
To celebrate Black History Month, Year 2 learnt all about Mary Seacole and her amazing life. In the morning we made biography plans and timelines to help us to write our own biographies about Mary. In the afternoon we went outside and made shelters for the soldiers just life Mary did in Crimea before making our own natural remedies to treat Yellow Fever and Cholera
In our English lessons, we have been learning about the features of a story. We used books from the library to find and discuss good story openers.
In Science, we learnt all about hygiene and how to stay healthy. Using glitter we looked at how bacteria can spread before experimenting with the best way to wash germs off our hands.
In Year 2 we made Horrid Henry’s glop to help us learn all about bossy verbs.
