We were very grateful to have lots of willing helpers to papier mache the dome of our models of the Pantheon today on Inspirational Women's Day

In science this week we set up an experiment to measure the speed of sound.

World Book Day has been busy and fun. We all came to school dressed as a character from a book. Then we had a World Book Day assembly. After that, we talked about what reading being fun means and how many of us read for fun. We listened to an audio book of The Day the Crayons Quit, we loved how each crayon had a different accent from around Great Britain. We took part in a Live Lesson from the BBC at 11 o'clock. After that. we designed our own ideal reading space and we also wrote a short story with book titles hidden in it.

Year 4 had a brilliant school trip to Verulamium Museum in St Albans. We really enjoyed the artefacts workshop where we actually held objects that were almost 2000 years old. We were complimented for our excellent historical knowledge and our behaviour. After the workshop, we explored the museum in our groups and walked across the park to see the hypocaust (under floor heating) under a big mosaic floor.

On history day we looked at five Roman shoes that archaeologists had found in Britain. We thought about what they were made of, how they are similar to our shoes and how they are different. We also had our own questions about the shoes. Finally, we used secondary sources to learn what the archaeologists knew about the shoes.

In art we focused on the space between objects. Over the term we created 3D paintings of a landscape. We drew outlines of a landscape and then transferred it separately onto card so that we had a foreground, midground and background to work on. We mixed the paint to create the colours that we wanted.
