Class News Letters

Art

We've been learning about different artists and their particularly styles of painting. Today, we painted a beautiful landscape. Once it's dry, we will paint the reflection of the landscape in the water.

Dance

We're enjoying our dance lessons with the Windsor Sports Partnership.

SNOW!!!!

Although we didn't experience as much snow as we would've liked, it didn't stop us from pausing our learning to have fun outside!

Science fun

In our 'Human Body' unit this half term,we have learnt about the senses. Did you know that taste and smell work together? We had fun trying foods that were sweet, salty, sour and bitter. We also used tried to identify specific foods that were hidden in smelling pots. We did not enjoy the cheese one!

Christmas Market

The Christmas Market was a success! Not only did the class buy some lovely items at the market, all the Year 1 goodies sold out! Well done Year 1!

Christmas Exhibition

Mr and Mrs Buckeridge, along with Michael brought the Christmas Exhibition to Datchet St Mary's. The children enjoyed learning about Christmas.

Christmas Show

Thank you for attending our Christmas Show. We had so much fun learning the songs, learning lines and trying on costumes.

Design Technology

We've really enjoyed our DT lessons this half term. We've explored simple mechanisms like 'sliders' and 'pivots'. We've designed a Christmas-themed moving picture. We're looking forward to making them next week!

Science

This half term we have been learning about the human body. We've learnt about the different parts of the eye. Did you know that the white part of your eye is called the 'sclera'?

Drawing Club

The class have thoroughly enjoyed our 'Drawing Club' lessons where the children have produced some INCREDIBLE writing.

The list below are the books we have read this Autumn term. I'm sure your children would enjoy re-reading these books at home with you:

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

The Gingerbread Man

Jack and the Beanstalk

What's in the Witches Kitchen? - Nick Sharratt

Would you Rather? - John Burningham

The Giant Jam Sandwich - John Vernon

The Night Pirates - Peter Harris

The Hairy Toe - Daniel Postgate

The Christmas Pine - Julia Donaldson

We also watched an episode of 'Mr Benn' titled 'Mr Benn the Zookeeper'. These episodes are enchanting and believe it or not, the children thoroughly enjoyed this vintage, children's program!
